Orange wines are the talk of the trade at the moment, they are certainly classed in the ‘cool – alternative’ category and it deserves a focused tasting from us as the wines coming out of Italy are some of the very best. For those of you that might be thinking this is the palest form of rosé you are quite wrong and this is probably not the tasting for you if you are expecting a light delicate wine. These orange wines are made with white grapes that are vinified in the same way as red wines, which means they are deep, concentrated, rich and complex with a bit of white tannin – very different to your normal white wines and they are 100% dry. It will be a fascinating tasting to explore this up-and-coming style of wine from four different producers. Come along with an open mind and a willingness to explore this more unusual category. They are full of wonderful flavours such as candied orange, apricots, almonds, toffee, orange essence and honey. This will be a fun, informal, intimate tasting run by Petersham Cellar in the Delicatessen in Covent Garden. A selection of carefully chosen canapes paired with the wines will be served. As spaces are limited, we recommend early booking. Our team are able to host private tastings on request.
