Not red. Not white. Not rosé. At this colourful Tuesday Tutorial, we’re talking orange or amber wines. Essentially, orange wines are white wines that are made as though they are red wines. These are wines whose grapes spend a certain amount of time in contact with their skins. The results are wines that boast not only an orange-tinged hue, but also more tannin and more intensity on the nose and palate.
Join us at the United Cellars Tasting Room in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo (140 William Street) at 6:30pm on Tuesday 4 October 2022. We’ll talk terroir and grape variety for orange wines – and why they’re important – as well as the hallmarks of these bright styles, such as approachability and food-friendliness, freshness, texture, and, in some cases, oxidative influence. Plus, you’ll get to taste a superb range of examples, including an amber from the coveted Pheasant’s Tears producer.
United Cellars Tuesday Tutorials take place on the first Tuesday of every month in the Tasting Room of our Woolloomooloo headquarters. On these relaxed, informal evenings, we share the stories behind the regions, the varietals, the wines, and the winemakers. What’s more, we enjoy some delicious wines – carefully curated from our United Cellars stock. These nights are about enjoying great wine in great company, from the newly wine-curious to vino aficionados. Plus, no two Tuesday Tutorials are ever the same, so you can keep coming back! If you like wine as much as we do, be sure to add these drink dates to your diary!
