Twin Cities Wine Education presents the top overview program of one of the most dynamic and exciting countries in the world of wine: Spain.
There is no country that has taken the wine world by storm faster than Spain.
Even as recently as the 1980’s and 1990’s, many wines from Spain were unpredictable, backward, variable, and just not worth the hunt. Then the wine revolution happened, bringing in modern winemaking techniques, massive investments, and the attention of the world’s wine critics.
Today, Spanish wine represents some the greatest bang for the buck wines available for the consumer. From the incredible sparkling Cavas, to the bright whites of the northwest, to the traditional gems of Rioja, to the powerhouse wines of Priorat, there is something for everybody.
Is is possible to do a full overview of this incredible wine country in one night? Yes!
This class will not only demystify Spanish wine for you, but will reinforce why Spain is considered by many wine lovers the best when it comes to bang-for-the-buck.
This class will include:
*** An overview of all major Spanish wine regions, categories, and styles: Cava, Rias Biaxas, Rudea, Rioja, Monsant, Priorat, La Mancha, Alicante, Valencia, and Jerez. We will cover the major grape varieties, the geology, the topography, and buying advice to get the styles of wine you seek.
*** An extensive discussion on the history of Spanish wine, including exploring the political implications of being under a dictatorship for most of the 20th century. (In many ways, the terroir of today’s Spanish wine is part of this historical and political discussion.)
*** Hints and tips to decipher the Spanish wine labels.
*** A tasting of a wide variety of Spanish wines from many of the regions discussed, presented in top quality Riedel stemware and with notes on each wine served.
This is the best wine class available to learn more about, and become confident in, the wines of Spain! No matter where you are in your wine knowledge, this will help unlock the secrets of this particularly confusing source of incredible bang-for-the-buck wines.
