Join Dr Calum Fraser, The Famous Grouse’s Master Blender, for a talk and tasting of three whiskies. Each year 43 million bottles of The Famous Grouse are enjoyed in over 100 markets. Its popularity is thanks to expert skill in blending to appeal to a wide range of whisky-drinkers, with each Famous Grouse expression upholding the perfectly smooth taste, exceptional quality and character of the UK’s most-loved whisky.
What you’ll learn and do: During this session, Calum will share the skills and knowledge he has developed on the art of blending, during his careers. You’ll taste The Famous Grouse Finest, The Famous Grouse Smoky Black and The Famous Grouse Wine Cask.
What you’ll need:
- All or any of the 3 whiskies (The Famous Grouse Finest, The Famous Grouse Smoky Black and The Famous Grouse Wine Cask)
- Tonic water
- Bay leaf (for garnish)
- Bottled/filtered room temperature water
- Sherry or Glencairn glass
- Tall/Hi-ball glass
- Pipette or teaspoon
About your instructor: Calum Fraser manages the Sample Room at Edrington’s blending headquarters in Glasgow, where an estimated 11,000 samples of single malts, grains and blends are stored. Over a 100 years of craftsmanship go into making The Famous Grouse, which is a perfectly-balanced blend of the finest malts and exceptional grain whiskies, expertly blended and carefully matured in seasoned oak casks. Every cask is nosed prior to blending to ensure the highest quality and consistency batch to batch.
