A unique opportunity to taste seven aged Super Tuscans from renowned wine estates in Tuscany from a top vintage together with James Suckling who tasted these all back in 2007 already. James has been tasting wines from Italy for more than four decades and has been visiting the country regularly since 1983 when he first traveled across Italy with a group of US wine merchants. As many of you know he has a home not far from Florence, and usually he tries to visit at least once or twice a year.
_______
The term Super Tuscan refers to Tuscany’s now acclaimed style of red wine made from international varieties, originating about 50 years ago. The best of these have the concentration, complexity and ageing potential to rival great wines from Bordeaux, while reflecting their terroir and of course vintage. The region had four consecutive fantastic vintages in modern winemaking history: 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Of these, 2007 was warm with a beautiful grape growing season, where many grapes from cabernet sauvignon to sangiovese were of outstanding quality. Discover how these seven Super-Tuscans have developed 14 years on.
______
AND THERE’S MORE….

Guests may decide to stay on and have dinner after at James Suckling Wine Central and sample Chef Albert’s incredible wine-friendly food, including the delicious Organic Yellow Brick Chicken, USDA Prime Petit Tender Beef Tataki or his insanely creamy Rigatoni Alla Cabonara.

Argiano
This beautiful Tuscan estate, nestled in the southern part of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation, has long been a leader in the region. Recent releases show impressive balance and finesse with structure.
Bibi Graetz
In two decades since his first vintage release, Bibi Graetz has become one of the brightest lights in Tuscan winemaking. Graetz draws on old vines, which give his best reds depth and soul.
Fattoria Le Pupille
Fattoria Le Pupille put the Tuscan coastal region of Maremma on the fine-wine map. James has tasted almost every vintage of Le Pupille in Tuscany, and the quality has been amazingly consistent.
Il Borro
Fashion house head Ferruccio Ferragamo, with the help of his son, Salvatore, started making serious wine 20 years ago. Since 2015, winemaking at Il Borro has been certified organic.
Tenuta di Biserno
This Tuscan property is the brainchild of long-time regional heroes: brothers Piero and Lodovico Antinori. Piero is the patriarch of the Antinori wine business, Lodovico the former owner of Ornellaia.
Tenuta di Nozzole
Father-and-son team Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari have been making excellent Tuscan wines for decades. At Tenuta di Nozzole sangiovese takes center stage, expressing all of its potential and elegance in the area’s unique Mediterranean ecosystem.
Tenuta Sette Ponti
Most releases in the past decade have been world class. The Oreno wine is a classic, underlining Moretti Cuseri’s determination to make a red reminiscent of the first-growth Bordeaux legends in his cellar.
