Champagne A. Margaine is located in Villers Marmery, south-east of Reims, a town considered somewhat of an oddity as it is primarily a Chardonnay village amidst a mountain of Pinot Noir. Why is that so special? The Chardonnay used by A. Margaine in Villers Marmery is specific to this area and cannot be found anywhere else in Champagne. This is there identity which they intend to express in all their cuvées.
The A. Margaine philosophy is singular, as they assess each year as it presents itself as opposed to a pre-determined recipe. Using a prescribed approach is restrictive to the true nature of the wine. They also chose to block malolactic fermentation in order to preserve what Arnaud Margaine describes as ‘fruit freshness’ and not just acidity.
Arnaud, the winemaker, works alongside his daughter, Mathilde, in order to craft beautiful cuvees every year. She will, one day, take over the family business as the 5th generation. Mathilde will co-host this tasting with us and introduce three different cuvées:
– A. Margaine Le Brut
– A. Margaine Cuvee M Le Caractere
– A. Margaine Le Demi-Sec
Join Mathilde & Kyla as they take you on a journey to French vineyards, tasting three fascinating artisanal wines.
We’re offering you 10% off any two or more from the above three wines with code MARGAINE10.
This offer ends Monday 10 August. Not valid with other offers. Remember: Standard shipping is free with Emperor when you spend $200 or more.
