Errazuriz was founded in 1870 when Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted his first vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley – 100km North of Santiago. Recognising that this valley, with its Mediterranean climate and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, Don Maximiano sourced and planted some of the finest clones from France.
Today, five generations and almost 150 years later, that barren land is now a world class vineyard and Errazuriz is the most awarded wine company in Chile. Eduardo Chadwick is currently in charge and has modernised the winery yet retained the iconic identity of the style of Errazuriz, making it as naturally as possible. These wines are “terroir led” with minimal intervention in the winery meaning they really are very pure. Errazuriz’ aim with all their wines is to capture the essence of the grape and spirit of the soil.
We’ll taste 7 wines throughout the range, from the Estate wines which show stunning varietal expression through the special single vineyard wines. We’ll also enjoy a couple of the renowned Max Reserva wines which show great concentration, complexity and elegance. These wines are all stunning and classically Chilean. If you’ve not tasted them then you’re in for a treat and you’ll be left in no doubt as to why Errazuriz is the most awarded winery in Chile.
After the tasting we’ll enjoy some cheese and charcuterie nibbles and another glass or two. These workshops are all fun, informal and informative – come on your own or with a friend for a great start to the week.
