The premise is simple. You stay at home and through the magical power of Zoom video conferencing we’ll enjoy a live Masterclass, pairing amazing wine and amazing cheese!!
How does it work?
Well, we supply 5 taster bottles of the wines together with 5 perfectly paired cheeses – and then we all dial in and enjoy the tastings together.
Paul Thompson (The Artisan Cheese Room) will be your guide as together we’ll be exploring, discussing and tasting a range of amazing S.C. Pannell wines, perfectly paired with an artisanal cheese.
Enjoy this unique tasting experience whilst learning about the tastes and terroirs of wine and cheese and how regionality, vintage, seasons and provenance all influence the perfect pairing.
As we taste, Paul will talk about all things cheese and and Stephen (aka S.C. Pannell himself) will talk all things wine and together we all get the chance to interact with (and generally interrogate) the winemaker.
NB. The only caveat is that you will need to be able to get to our Manly store to pick up your Cheese & Wine Showboxes from 12pm on the day of the event. (We can arrange delivery at an additional cost).
About S.C. Pannell
The S.C. Pannell label was established by Stephen and wife Fiona in 2004, but Steve’s journey to winemaking really dates back to 1969, growing up on one of Australia’s most iconic boutique wineries, Moss Wood in Margaret River. From there the winegrower path was inevitable and lead to Chief Red Wine Maker at BRL Hardy via vintages in Burgundy, Bordeaux, Barolo and, Priorat.
Quite simply, Stephen Pannell is one of Australia’s finest and most imaginative winemakers. He’s a Jimmy Watson Trophy winner, a McLaren Vale Bushing King winner, a two-time Max Schubert Trophy winner, International Red Winemaker of the Year and Decanter Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Contributors to the World of Wine. Nick Stock described him as potentially “one of the greatest Australian winemakers ever to make wines in our age”.
Steve’s wines are made with modern Australian food and wine culture at the front of mind. The wines come from a range of stunning McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills vineyards, and are made from sustainable varieties that properly suit his South Australian climate. They’re built around brightness of fruit and savoury tannin structure, and whatever your poison is Steve has you covered!
He is truly one of the most forward thinking and inspirational Australian winemakers alive today.
