We are delighted (and quietly smug) to welcome Countess Beatrice Contini Bonacossi of the Capezzana winery, who will host an exclusive tasting on Wednesday 27th March 6-8pm. This will be a complimentary tasting of some of their key wines and olive oil.
Capezzana is the oldest producer from the city of Carmignano. A small village north of Chianti, this area share the history of Chianti as it was nominated as one of the best areas to produce quality wine by Cosimo de’ Medici in his Bando (=law) of Chianti in 1716. Owned by the Contini Bonacossi family since the 1920s, it is today the preeminent producer of Carmignano, a wine made of Sangiovese with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and other locally grown varieties. Capezzana owns a large estate (part of the former hunting grounds of the Medici) that includes 247 acres of vineyards and 356 acres of olive groves.
Capezzana is also one of the biggest producer of quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Chianti. The wines and the Olive oils are Organically Certified since 2015.
